Monitoring-of-hate-sites-in-my-opinion-should-be-allowed-to-an-extent-science-homework-help

Monitoring of hate sites in my opinion should be allowed to an extent. Gun rights are monitored for background and mental health issues to allow for safety when selling and/or buying firearms in hopes of keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous or harmful people. Hate can be used as a very dangerous ammunition that can result in death of an individual or group. Monitoring does not have to mean total exposure or access to a hate site however keeping even one human being safe should be the main priority. In today’s technological world it seems to me that a system could be put in place to red flag certain wording or posts to determine if a life is at risk of being taken. We can argue free speech until there is no breath left in us however how important is free speech if you, your loved one or someone special to you were targeted for a hate crime and if that hate crime turned out to take the life of that loved one, would you still think monitoring of a hate site infringed upon freedom of speech?

Our rights are part of our heritage and they should be honored however I am torn between the rights established centuries ago and the modern technological world of today were crime happens quick, cruel and without rhyme or reason at an astounding rate every minute of every day. I greatly appreciate our freedom of speech but I also greatly appreciate safety from cruel hate crimes.

Winnie Hu (2010) reports that if the students involved in the Tyler Clementi suicide were to be convicted of a hate crime they could serve up to 10 years in prison. No monitoring of hate sites, takes the living life of individuals and groups and also takes the freedom of the criminal committing the crime.
